West Virginia Is Lucky To Have Senator Manchin

Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), is suing President Biden’s White House staff, accusing them of leaking “absolutely unacceptable” information about him after his Fox News interview where he criticized the Build Back Better bill.

Manchin was not blaming Biden for his animosity. The senator stated that Biden was aware that negotiations were in shambles and that his refusal to support the bill shouldn’t have been a surprise.

Senator Sullivan said that he would have supported the bill had it been smaller and done more to lower prescription drug prices. The senator also raised other concerns that the president of “soaking the rich” didn’t want to be addressed.

He stated that he would like a work requirement and an increase in income of $200,000 to extend the enhanced child tax credit, which is $2,000 to $3,000 per year for children under 6.

Manchin stated that he wanted to make sure that $12,500 in rebates on electric vehicle purchases didn’t go to the wealthy.

The senator had previously complained that his state, which is relatively poor, set up universal preschool. This act would have made it possible nationwide without federal assistance. He also opposed a provision that would have provided a federal subsidy for four weeks of paid family leave in the private sector.

Manchin didn’t refuse to accept the child tax credit. Manchin didn’t believe it should be available to those earning $200,000 per year or more, and that there should be a work requirement. Biden insists this is not necessary.

Manchin has no Democratic Party allies who will stand with him against this madness. Republicans are teeing around Manchin, hoping that he will make the jump to the GOP, but not trying to appear to be encouraging him.

It’s open season for Joe Manchin to the radicals.

West Virginia is fortunate to have him.
