Does Buttigieg Want to Serve Another Term as Transportation Secretary?

Last week, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg was asked a simple question about whether he’d like to return to the position if President Joe Biden were re-elected. Buttigieg didn’t give a straight response.

Buttigieg, rather than giving a “yes” or “no”, said that he is “head down” and aims to “deliver” in relation to “historical opportunities.”

He described it as “demanding”, but also “rewarding” work, which he was “very happy” to be doing.

Buttigieg stated that “we’ll discover what’s… next” and added that there are many things to be proud of, but also much to do.

Biden announced that he would run for re-election in the 2024 presidential race.

Every generation has had a moment when they’ve had to stand for democracy. Stand up for your fundamental rights. This is what I think we have. This is why I am running for re-election as president of the United States. Join us. “Let’s finish the task,” Biden said in a Twitter post.

The former president Donald Trump will also be running again. Both he and Biden face challenges in their respective party’s primaries. But if Trump wins the GOP presidential nod and Biden secures the Democratic presidential nod, Americans may face a repeat of the 2020 contest.

Buttigieg ran for president in 2019 but dropped out to endorse Biden the following year.
