A quiet revolution is taking place across America. It could be the beginning of some of the most significant spiritual, cultural, and political changes since the Civil War.

The U.S. released new data earlier in the week. The Census Bureau has released new data earlier this week that shows millions of Americans leaving Blue states with high taxes and high crime and are moving to Red Republican states, where taxes are lower and the police are still being funded.

Take into account the contrast between Texas, Idaho, and New York, as described by Census Bureau (emphasis on added).

With a population of 29,527.941 people in 2021 Texas saw the greatest annual and cumulative numeric gains, growing by 310.288 (1.1%) et 382,436 (1.3%), respectively.

Although net international migration has contributed to Texas’ population growth (27,185), Texas’s growth over the past year was mainly due to net domestic migration (170 307) and natural increases (113 845).

Idaho saw the fastest cumulative and annual population growth, increasing by 2.9% (53.151) in the past year and 3.4% (61.817) since April 1, 2020. While Idaho saw modest gains due to natural increase (4,398) or net international migration (413), the main driver for its rapid increase was net domestic immigration (48,876).

New York saw the greatest annual and cumulative numeric population drop with a decrease of 319,020 (1.6%) and 365.336 (1.8%) respectively. The decline in the population of New York was due to negative domestic migration (352,185).

The District of Columbia saw its population drop by 2.9% in the past year (or 20,043 residents) to 670,050 in 2020. The largest annual percentage decrease in the country was this.

Negative net domestic migration (-23.030) is responsible for the District of Columbia’s decline in population. This was enough to offset gains from natural growth (2,171) or net international migration (1 1,128).

Texas and Idaho are both solidly red. The incompetent and abusive use of bureaucratic and judicial powers by President Joe Biden, along with the Democratic majorities at Congress, are certain to end any naive hopes of changing either state’s fortunes in the near future.

In other words, Beto O’Rourke is the only Texas politician who thinks that Beto O’Rourke has a chance of winning the Texas governorship.

The Census Bureau has Texas and Idaho at the top of its list of states that have experienced an increase in net domestic migration. They are joined by Arizona, Delaware Florida, Georgia, and Montana.

Other than New York City and D.C. the areas being left behind are California, Illinois and Kansas, Louisiana and Maryland, Massachusetts and Michigan, Mississippi and New Jersey. New Mexico is North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.

According to the Census Bureau, the South is America’s most populous area.

While growing populations are generally good news for states there are potential problems. One of these is whether people fleeing the dying Blue states will change their voting habits once they settle in their new Red-state homes.

This is a valid fear.

This, my friends, is a great example of American freedom encouraging civic engagement that continually refreshes and helps grow electoral barriers against further encroachments on constitutional liberty. Is there anyone who wants a permanent conservative majority in American politics?

Fresh Start was an idea that Glenn Reynolds, Instapundit’s founder, and a University of Tennessee professor of law, came up with. He has been discussing this type of approach since at most 2018.

Although it may seem small, I believe that this is one of the most positive developments in 2021. Happy new year to millions of Americans who will be having new neighbors in 2022.

Freedom is great!
