Schumer Lead Delegation of Bipartisan Lawmakers to Israel Over the Weekend

According to his office, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D.N.Y.), will be leading a bipartisan group of lawmakers to Israel this weekend to show their support for Israel.

A spokesperson for the majority speaker stated that “Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer will be leading a bipartisan [Congressional Members Delegation] this weekend to Israel in order to show the United States’ unwavering support to Israel. ”

Schumer is also scheduled to meet with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Benny Gantz, a member of Israel’s War Cabinet in an emergency. He will also be meeting with Isaac Herzog, the Israeli President.

The spokesperson said, “Sen. Schumer will discuss the resources the United States can provide to support Israel on all fronts.”

Hamas launched a surprise attack on Gaza last week, resulting in the death, injury, or capture of hundreds of civilians, soldiers, and infants. Israel responded by firing missiles into Gaza as a retaliation to Hamas’s attack.

According to sources familiar with the issue, when the Senate returns to work in a few weeks, it will need to prepare a package of additional legislation that includes aid for Israel, and possibly Ukraine. It may also include border security and assistance to Israel.
