A lot is being said about Donald Trump and Florida Governor. Ron DeSantis in 2024. Trump has made the declaration, but it’s far from over. DeSantis, who was reelected as governor, has not. Both Trump and DeSantis appeal to people because they are willing and able to fight for the principles that Republicans care about and are not afraid to take on Democrats.
We need to stand up against the Democrats’ attempts to drive us further to the right at a time when they are driving chaos all around and pushing us further left. In the aftermath of the midterms, Senator Mitch McConnell, the Republican Senate minority leader was candid.

McConnell stated, “My message to [Biden] was let’s find something between the 40-yard lines that we can all agree on, and we did some this year: infrastructures, chips, school safety, and mental health.” Why are you even talking about compromise when you have the House at your side? This is a bad position to be in. The compromise on infrastructure won the Democrat’s victory and may have contributed to inflation. Although infrastructure is important, there were many other things that we should not have agreed to, such as billions of dollars for climate change. Let’s not wait to see what the Democrats propose, but push our agenda. Make it clear that you aren’t grabbing on any of the secret Democratic agenda items.
McConnell’s view on why the Republicans aren’t winning more in the midterms. It was almost as if he was repeating Democratic talking points.
McConnell: “We underperformed among independents and moderates because their impression of many of the people in our party is that they’re involved in chaos, negative, excessive attacks and it frightened independent and moderate Republican voters.” pic.twitter.com/vgcP02OZtT

Laura Ingraham pointed out on Wednesday that this is not the same as the attacks Democrats make against Republicans. Where is the condemnation of the utterly negative comments made by Joe Biden and other Democrats? Is there any recognition that perhaps more money should have gone to Arizona than to try to save Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R.AK), who voted for the Democratic House candidate? What does this mean for Georgia? We need to win the Senate seat.
Next, Senator Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D.NY) made these remarks, stating that he would reach out to McConnell to ask him to help block the MAGA people.
He said, “I will sit down with him to say that we should be working together.”
Schumer stated, “It’s a different time this time because they lost.” The red wave was a mirage. One reason, although not the primary reason, but one of the major reasons was that the average American, even those in the middle, said “I’m afraid about this MAGA.” They are trying to destroy our democracy. If you look at the numbers, you will see that the MAGA Republican approach didn’t work. The MAGA Republican candidate lost across the board. You can’t continue to be a leader in the Republican Party if you aren’t a great one.
Here’s Mitch’s message: This is not how to do it. It is not a winning strategy to say “Yes, all the Democratic lies about us” This will lead to you losing the base and the Democrats winning.
