Joy Behar, co-host of “The View”, said that black Republicans do not know what it is to be black in America. They don’t recognize enough of the systemic racism that oppresses the community.
Behar’s comments came as the women were discussing the nomination of Republican Senator Tim Scott from South Carolina to the presidential primaries of 2024.
Behar stated, “He is one of those guys who believes that you can pull yourself up by your bootstraps, just like [Supreme Court Justice] Clarence Thomas. He does not, in my opinion, understand the systemic racism faced by African-Americans and other minorities in this country.”
Clarence and he don’t understand it, so they are Republicans! She added.
Behar’s claim was met with laughter and applause from “The View” audience.
She then attacked Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, the Republican governor of Florida, who was accused of being a non-conservative and called “Ron DeFascist.”
Behar described Tim Scott in a more positive way, similar to that of Ronald Reagan rather than the “doom-and-gloom” style of former president Donald Trump.
Scott has already responded to similar criticisms from Whoopi Goldberg and Sunny Hostin when he appeared at Fox News.
Scott said, “We must ignore the extreme left and disprove their lies through our actions.”
He added, “Here’s a funny thing: Sunny, the host, wants to be judged based on the content of character and not by the color of her face.” “America is the story of evolution – a never told story of evolutionary indoctrination in many of our schools, which are indoctrinating instead of educating children.”
Scott continued to state that his life proved the liberal claim that blacks must have a victim-like mentality.
“I say not on my watch.” Scott concluded, “Let’s tell the entire story of America Rising.”
