Biden (D), after facing increasing bipartisan pressure, announced plans to visit the U.S./Mexico border on Jan 8. Border Patrol agents are skeptical that Biden’s visit would influence the administration’s efforts to curb illegal immigration.
Biden stated to the Wall Street Journal Tuesday that he was planning to secure plans to visit the U.S. border with Mexico soon.
He noted that “we’re working out all the details now.”
Biden stated that Biden wants to “see what’s happening” and hopes to see “peace, security.”
On Wednesday afternoon, the president was due to deliver a speech about border security enforcement. Biden stated that he will visit the southern border on Sunday as part of his scheduled trip to Mexico City to meet With Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, the Mexican President, and Justin Trudeau, the Canadian Prime Minister for the North American Leaders Summit.
Jen Psaki (the president’s former press secretary) stated that Biden visited the border with Mexico in 2008, while driving along it during his campaign.

According to National Border Patrol Council President Brandon Judd, “It is past time Biden came to the border to see firsthand the chaos that he created after two years,” Judd said to the Daily Caller News Foundation. “I hope our country will see a positive outcome to the president’s visit but I won’t hold my breath.
Judd said that while I believe President Biden will try to deflect and lie about his failures, much like what his White House press secretaries did, I am glad that some media outlets tried to tell the truth to the American people, and to be the watchdogs necessary for positive change. This is undoubtedly the catalyst to this visit.
Chad Wolf, Department of Homeland Security Secretary, told DCNF that “To truly understand the depths of crisis, I encourage President to visit overcrowded facilities and engage with Border Patrol agents to have real conversations.” Facilities should not be cleaned or conversations scripted under any circumstances.
Two Border Patrol agents spoke out to the media, requesting anonymity. They said that it is common for border facilities to be empty before politicians visit, to create the illusion that the U.S.–Mexico border has been under control. According to the agents, Biden is unlikely to see the full extent of the border crisis.
They always do that. One agent claimed that every time D.C. brass arrives, the tents are emptied and everyone is released/processed quickly to create the illusion that everything is under control.
The DCNF reported that neither the White House nor the Department of Homeland Security responded to a request for comments.
