Twitter files reveal the government’s attempts to suppress speech on the platform, on everything from Hunter Biden’s laptop to COVID. Elon Musk, Twitter’s head, has also revealed that we will be viewing the “Fauci Files,” later in the week.
The Democrats and the liberal media tried to convince us that there was no suppression of speech and that there were not concerning constitutional issues being raised.
Now, prominent Democrats are suddenly stating outright that they should control speech — for their own good, of course, due to all the horrible, evil “misinformation”, or “hate speech.”
As I wrote last week it was alarming that a 35-year-old member of Congress and a senator since 2007, Sen. Ben Cardin (D–MD), did not seem to understand the Constitution. He demanded that social media be regulated to curb hate speech, in total contradiction to the First Amendment.
.@SenatorCardin: “If you espouse hate, if you espouse violence, you’re not protected under the First Amendment. I think we can be more aggressive in the way that we handle that type of use of the internet.” pic.twitter.com/t38Myy93ZI

Cardin said they should be more aggressive in going after the speech. He also pointed out what Europe was doing as an example to follow. This is absurd considering that many countries in Europe are now threatening to penalize people for speaking out against their will. This is the path that we don’t want to follow, but it’s what the Democrats want.
Cardin is not the only one who has made this mistake. Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), also took that dangerous route when she appeared on “Meet the Press”. She spoke about Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act and called for its modification so that “misinformation” could be pursued by the government.

Klobuchar stated that it was possible to amend the law and concentrate on specific types of speech misinformation, or disinformation. “And all that you are saying is, “We know people will put stuff on your supposed town square,” which has now become a communications company. Your network and other news organizations have standards and limits. Our argument is that if you make money from it, or amplify its reach, it’s not a good idea. To make money, your angry emojis or all the other things you do.
Let’s take a look at that. It’s Elon Musk who was calling Twitter a “town square”, which she mocks. They suddenly want action, when they have never wanted action before. They don’t have control over Twitter. She also noted that Musk may have amplified something. This means that they feel entitled to pursue all of Twitter to suppress misinformation and disinformation. They do, of course. We have the First Amendment because of her desire to suppress certain types of speech.
The Democrats might have to start with themselves if they are serious about stopping misinformation. They’re the largest purveyors of misinformation.
Klobuchar also supported the idea of taking on social media companies with “hefty suits” to force them into compliance.

Check out how crazy this can get: She also blamed the attack on Paul Pelosi, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband, and the Capitol riot on social media.
They have to be accountable when there are situations in which literally deranged people believe their stuff and go in and take a hammer and bludgeon the husband of the speaker of the House. Or hundreds of thousands more blog posts that allow them to go through maps of the Capitol they use to incite an insurrection. When they are unable to control their platforms and make billions from the American people, Congress must be accountable. Don’t hide behind these numbers, get involved.
It sounds like there is misinformation, such as the “hundreds and thousands” of blog posts. I don’t think so. Two-thirds of Americans aren’t calling for violations of the First Amendment. Did she not say that platforms will be held responsible for the actions of crazy people? She’s saying exactly that. They will do anything to get the speech they want. What about all the Democratic misinformation? Like Russia collusion and countless other lies. Talk about a slippery slope. They’re easing it now so that we slide all the way down Tyranny Hill.
