103-Year-Old Woman Becomes the World’s Oldest Parachutist

Do you have a bucket list? If so, get it done as soon as you can, our time on earth is short.

The lucky few are 100 years old. However, Rut Linnea Larsson was aware that she wouldn’t be able to perform physical feats forever.

So, the Swede was able to achieve great heights at an early age. At the age of 90, she crossed off paragliding.

Rut also marked off other goals. These include becoming a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

On her 90th birthday, she spent time in the stratosphere. At the egg-state 102, she was able to parachute for the very first time.

The spring bird was back in Motala (Sweden) on May 29th.

Joackim Johansson was the harness she used to sweep the floors with all height-loving girls

Guinness World Records states that Rut was the oldest person who parachuted out of a plane in tandem, at the age of 103 years and 259 days.

Rut’s incredible attempt was captured by local media outlets.

While dropping, even picked up some tunes:

Rut asked Lasse Dahlquist for “Try Your Wings” to be played during the jump.

Three generations, each awestruck at their mother’s moxie, awaited her triumphant return to Earth.

“It’s nice that it’s starting to get warmer outside,” Rut declared to her granddaughter Per before the attempt, praising the sunny spring day and the cloudless sky: the perfect weather to enjoy a parachute jump.

“You get new strength when summer comes. It will be exciting, of course, and I have no regrets! … My daughter Ulla has bought me a pair of nice sneakers to use during the attempt.”

When Rut isn’t flying high, she’s living it up in agreeance with gravity. The lady may soar like an eagle, but she also sings like a bird:

Rut loves singing in the local chorus, and spending time at home with his family.

She performed for her community in December 2021 at the St. Lucia Day celebrations organized by Zenit, a senior meeting place of Mjölby.

Rut participated in the Swedish winter traditions for four centuries. Rut wore a crown of candles and led “Luciatag”, which was led by Lucia (Saint Lucy).

Rut was honored to be the oldest Lucia ever to perform.

Great Grandma won ballooning.

Rut’s story is a refreshing reminder of what life should be. It is an arena for outward, optimistic living, in a time where culture has been so corrupted by the animous online.

Although she has done her job, is still not done.

Rut Hansson was born in 1918 and has experienced many incredible experiences throughout his life.

She’s never afraid to face a challenge, and she pursues her goals with a positive attitude that is loved by her family and friends.

She was born shortly after the end of World War II. She was raised in Mjolby’s country, where she still lives today with her five children, 19 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren.

Rut is part of a new generation of adventurers.

Rut broke Kathryn “Kitty” Hodges (USA)’s oldest tandem parachute jump (female records) with her leap.

Hodges was 103 years old and had been working for 129 days before she broke the record in 2019.

Let’s learn from them, and aim for the stars.
