Robert F. Kennedy Jr. filed a statement of candidacy with the Federal Election Commission indicating that he is set to run for the 2024 presidency as a Democrat.
Kennedy, a nephew to Democratic President John F. Kennedy had previously indicated that he was considering a White House bid.
A Democratic presidential campaign would require that incumbent Democratic President Joe Biden is challenged. Although he hasn’t officially declared his plans to run, he has stated that he will.
Marianne Williamson is a Democrat who ran in the previous presidential election cycle, but lost out in January 2020. She has now entered the race for the 2024 cycle.
Biden could run again if he decides to run. The 2024 election could be a rematch for the 2020 election since the previous President Donald Trump is also running.
Trump will be challenged by GOP primary challengers. Former U.S. Former U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley to the United Nations, Vivek Ramaswamy (entrepreneur, author, and former Arkansas Governor). Asa Hutchinson, Vivek Ramaswamy, and former Arkansas Gov. have all declared presidential bids.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis may also be considered a candidate for the GOP race. He hasn’t announced his intention to run but he said that he believes he could defeat Biden. Both Chip Roy, a Texas Republican Representative, and Thomas Massie from Kentucky endorsed DeSantis.
